MacGregor - 1953 Byron Nelson 563 Woods

This article is my opinion. This web site is not endorsed by, directly affiliated with, maintained, authorized, or sponsored by MacGregor or any of its associated companies or brands.

Introduction

This is not the most famous persimmon from the MacGregor line in the 1950s but it sure holds the same level of quality. I love all the small things. They found a lovely knot, visible on the toe, right next to the 563. Knotty wood in a persimmon driver? Yes please!

There is something wonderful about simple design. The face is clean and four screws in a diamond pattern that just leave nothing to be desired.
The crown shows its true colors and personality. The unique fingerprint of that wood grain, knots and imperfections. Very different from the shimmering uniform finish of modern drivers.
Simply beautiful. Please watch my video below
