MacGregor - M85 Woods
1952

This is the face of one of the most iconic persimmon drivers ever made. The 1-3-1 screw pattern means this is the 1952 model. You will also notice some red paint in the grooves. The deep face was a key selling point.

This is also the year they introduced the Eye-O-Matic face. Both of these 2 woods were made in 1952 but they are marked differently. One has Eye-O-Matic stamped in the toe section of the sole. The other has no Eye-O-Matic stamp at all.
To fix this inconsistency the 1953 Eye-O-Matic stamps were placed on the sole plate. Obviously the M75 is pictured next to the M85.
It is common for surviving M85 persimmon individuals to have experienced at least one refinishing. The M85W model came originally with a leather grip. The M85TW (shown here) came with a rubber grip.
Now I need to decide if I want to take these out onto the course.
